Our Services

What Can Exodos Haul Away in Providence?

We handle junk for homeowners, renters, landlords and businesses across the city. See all of our services, or start with the job that fits yours.

Residential Junk Removal

Old boxes, bags, toys, rugs, clothes and everything in the “someday” pile. Our residential junk removal service clears one closet or a whole apartment in a single trip.

Furniture and Appliance Removal

Couches, sectionals, dressers, bed frames, desks, recliners and patio sets. Refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves and AC units too. Our furniture and appliance removal service gets it out of your space fast. Usable furniture goes to local charities whenever possible, and metal appliances go to metal collection stations.

Garage, Basement and Attic Cleanouts

More than half of Providence’s homes were built before 1940, according to Census based data from Point2Homes. Older homes often mean tight basement stairs, small attic hatches and years of stored stuff. Our garage, basement and attic cleanouts clear it all, including water damaged carpet and boxes after heavy rain, flooding or severe weather.

Eviction and Foreclosure Cleanouts

Landlords, property managers and real estate agents need units empty and ready to show. Our eviction and foreclosure cleanouts remove everything left behind so you can clean, repair and rent again.

Yard Waste and Debris Hauling

Branches, brush, landscaping debris and outdoor clutter. The city’s weekly yard waste collection runs from April 20 to December 24 in 2026, and leaves, grass and small debris must go in paper bags or labeled barrels. For bigger piles and fallen limbs, our yard waste and debris hauling service loads it up.

Material Transport and Delivery

Providence

Does Providence Offer Free Bulky Item Pickup?

Yes, for eligible homes. The City of Providence offers free curbside pickup of bulky items and large appliances through Waste Management for buildings with 6 or fewer units. Mattresses are the one exception and cost a fee.

Here’s how the city program works, according to the city’s Bulky Item page:

Who qualifies:

residents in buildings with 6 or fewer units. Buildings with more than 6 units are not eligible for municipal trash or recycling service.

How to schedule:

use Waste Management's online form or call (800) 972 4545 at least 24 hours before your regular trash day.

How many items:

up to 3 per unit.

Where:

at the curb, next to your trash and recycling containers. The city cannot come into your apartment, property or yard.

When:

no earlier than 4 p.m. the evening before and no later than 4 a.m. on collection day.

Extras:

only scheduled items are picked up. Anything else left at the curb gets tagged, and if it isn't removed, the property owner can be fined.

What If a Scheduled Pickup Is Missed?

Call Waste Management at (800) 972 4545, or reach the Mayor's Center for City Services at (401) 400-1675 or by dialing 311. If you need items gone sooner, or you have more than the city collects, a private crew can take everything in one visit.

What Is the Difference Between City Bulky Pickup and Private Junk Removal?

City pickup is free but limited: 3 items per unit, curbside only, on a scheduled day, for buildings with 6 or fewer units. Private junk removal is a paid service, but there’s no item limit and the crew carries everything out for you.

How Do I Dispose of a Mattress in Providence?

Providence residents can drop off up to 2 mattresses or box springs for free at the DPW yard on Allens Avenue on Saturday mornings, or book a paid curbside pickup through Waste Management. If you’d rather not haul it yourself, we carry it out of any room for $40 per mattress or box spring. For drop off rules, recycling options and how our pickup works, see our guide to mattress disposal in Providence.

How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Providence?

Load Size Truck Space Price What It Covers
Minimum pickup About 1/8 truck (about 2 cubic yards) $95 to $125 1 or 2 items or 3 to 4 bags

Is There Free Junk Removal in Providence, RI?

Not from private companies, because trucks, labor and disposal all cost money. But Providence residents do have free options:

  • The city’s bulky item pickup, for eligible homes.
  • A free e-waste pickup appointment through Waste Management at (800) 972 4545, since state law bans TVs, monitors and computers from regular trash.
  • Donating usable furniture and appliances to local charities and reuse centers, which the city encourages.
  • Giving things away on Facebook Marketplace, Nextdoor or a local Buy Nothing group.

When those don’t fit your timeline or your load, a crew is the next step.

Do Bulky Pickup Rules Change in Nearby Towns?

Yes. Every city and town sets its own rules. East Providence, for example, collects bulky items on Fridays by appointment only, one item per household per week. If you’re outside Providence, check your town’s rules or see the towns we serve.

Junk Removal or a Dumpster: Which Is Better in Providence?

For most household cleanouts, junk removal is simpler. A crew comes once, does the lifting and leaves nothing behind. A dumpster sits at your property for days, takes up space and still leaves the loading to you.

If a dumpster has to sit on a city street, check the Temporary Dumpster or Pod Permit through the city’s online permit portal. Dumpsters make more sense for long renovations with steady debris.

Who Do We Help Across Providence?

Homeowners.

Duplexes, converted homes and small apartment buildings are Providence’s most common housing type, according to NeighborhoodScout. Owners call us to clear basements, attics and garages and to turn over units between tenants.

Renters and students.

City pickup stops at the curb, which doesn’t help much on the third floor. We carry items down from any floor. Around move outs at Brown, RISD, Providence College and Johnson & Wales, our furniture and appliance removal crew helps students, parents and landlords clear apartments.

Landlords and property managers.

Buildings with more than 6 units aren’t eligible for city trash service, so turnovers and abandoned furniture need a private hauler. We handle eviction and foreclosure cleanouts too.

Businesses and contractors.

We serve commercial customers, clear commercial spaces and transport building materials to job sites.

Spanish speaking families.

Se habla espaƱol. Call or text us in Spanish at 401.400.1675.

Where Does Your Junk Go After We Haul It?

Usable furniture and household items are donated to local charitable organizations whenever possible. Everything else is recycled or disposed of properly. In Rhode Island, state law requires cities and towns to bring their trash and recyclables to the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation, which runs the Central Landfill in Johnston.

  • Usable furniture and household goods: donated to local charities whenever possible.
  • Metal and appliances: taken to metal collection stations.
  • Mattresses and box springs: taken to the Central Landfill in Johnston, which accepts mattresses for Rhode Island’s Bye Bye Mattress recycling program.
  • TVs and monitors: kept out of regular trash, since state law bans electronics from the trash.

What Won't a Junk Removal Company Take?

We don’t take paint, propane tanks, chemicals or junk cars. Most of these count as household hazardous waste, which state law bans from regular trash.

Rhode Island households can bring paint, propane tanks and household chemicals to RIRRC’s Eco Depot collection events for free, with an appointment. Call 401.942.1430 ext. 3241 or visit ecodepotri.org. The city keeps a full hazardous waste list.

We do take tires with rims, TVs, appliances and AC units for a small added fee. Pianos and hot tubs are quoted separately.

How Do You Choose a Junk Removal Company You Can Trust?

Check five things before you book:

  1. Recent reviews on Google and at least one other site.
  2. Proof of registration and insurance.
  3. A clear price before any work starts.
  4. A straight answer on where your junk goes.
  5. A real local business, not a national call center.

Exodos Transport & Junk Removal was founded in 2025 by Julio and Yesenia Estrada as a family owned, locally operated business. We’re insured and registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and you can look up USDOT 4429350 on SAFER yourself. Every job starts with a free estimate and a price with no hidden fees.
