Every Town Has Its Own Bulky Pickup Rules
In Rhode Island, each city and town runs its own trash and bulky item program, so the rules change when you cross a town line.
- Providence collects up to 3 bulky items per unit at the curb, only for buildings with 6 or fewer units, according to the city’s Bulky Item page.
- East Providence collects bulky items on Fridays by appointment only, one item per household per week, according to the city of East Providence.
Check your own town’s public works or recycling page for its rules. When you have more than your town will take, need items carried out of the house, or can’t wait for a pickup day, a private crew can clear it all in one visit.
